Centres for Main Examination : Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai Details of centres for Main Examination Centres are as under :
The call letters for the 03 October 2011 examination would be available for downloading by the candidates through our website from 24 September 2011 to 1 October 2011.
Candidates may make their own arrangements (at own cost) for travelling and stay, for appearing in the Main Written Examination on 03 October 2011 at the above centres.
The tentative date for declaration of result of the 3 October 2011 examination is 09 November 2011

GATE Examination Schedule
GATE 2012 Examination will include both ONLINE and OFFLINE examinations as per the following schedule:
Online Examination:
Examination using computers. In GG and MN papers, all questions are multiple choice type. In AE and TF papers, 60 questions are multiple choice type and 5 questions are numerical answer type. For questions of multiple choice type, the candidate will select the correct answer out of four options . For questions of numerical answer type, the candidate will enter the numeric answer.
Offline Examination:
Examination where the candidate will mark the correct answer out of four options in an Optical Response Sheet (ORS) by darkening the appropriate bubble.

In view of cancellations after the last phase of admissions, another round of web based counseling will be conducted from 21-09-2010 to 25-09-2010 to fill up the cancelled vacancies.
Exercising options:
· Candidates who satisfied with the previous allotment should not exercise options again.
· You can also give options for those colleges even if the vacancies are not available as vacancies may arise due to sliding, cancellations and conversions.
· Candidates whose certificates are already verified and returned back can collect fresh scratch card at the respective helpline centers between 21-09-2010 and 22-09-2010
· Candidates can Exercise their options afresh from 22-09-2010 to 25-09-2010
Certificate verification:
The candidates whose certificates were not verified in earlier phase of web based counseling can attend any one of the Help Line Centers on 21-09-2010 as shown in table.
Details of new colleges and vacancies will be placed in the website
http://edcet.apsche.ac.in on 21-09-2010.
Note: Options exercised by the candidates, during earlier phase of web based counseling will not be considered for seat allotment; hence, the candidates should exercise options afresh.
For other details like certificates to produced, fee to be paid, list of Help Line Centers etc., refer earlier notification published in all news papers dated: 28-07-2010 and also available in website www.edcet.apsche.ac.in.
Note: The candidate who got allotment in the final phase will lose earlier allotment and all the candidates are advised to check the final allotment on 27-09-2010. No cancellations are permitted after this phase.

About AMIE Examinations
The Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (popularly known as AMIE) is a professional certification given by Institution of Engineers (India). The qualification can be earned by passing Section A, Project Work and& Section B examination of the Institution.
If an applicant passes both sections of the examination, he or she becomes a Graduate of the Institution of Engineers (GradIE). The Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development considers this qualification equivalent to a degree in engineering. GradIE was earlier Associate of IE or AIE (Bachelor’s degree of Institution). Minimum duration for passing both sections is 4 years, however professionals with 3 years polytechnic engineering can complete it in 3 years since they are exempted from certain examination papers of Section A. One can not appear in Section B without doing project work after passing section A. The Institution of Engineers (India) was established in 1920 in Kolkata, West Bengal and is acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education in Engineering. IEI (I) conducts an examination for Associate Membership.
This examination is considered to be on par with B.E. / B.Tech. when contemplated as an eligibility qualification to write competitive examinations like the Civil Services, Indian Engineering Services, GATE, etc., and for placement in government, the public and private sectors. This qualification is recognised by Ministry of HRD, Government of India as equivalent to B.E./ B.Tech. There are 2 sections, namely Section A and Section B, in this examination. Section A is common for all candidates. Under Section B, a particular discipline of engineering has to be chosen from among the streams offered.

Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Ajmer SYLLABI OF THE PAPER/SUBJECTS PRESCRIBED FOR THE MAIN EXAMINATION COMPULSORY PAPERS/SUBJECTS
PAPER-I. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND GENERAL SCIENCE
1. Current Affairs – Current events of State, National and International importance, International agencies, their activities, Economic and Political aspects in India and organisations and institutions working in these fields. Games and sports at State, National and International Levels.
2. General Science – Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science including matters of everyday observations and experience as may be expected of and enlightened person though he may not have made any special study of science. Question to test the candidate’s acquaintance with matters such as Electronics, Tele-communication. Satellies and the like should also be included.
3. Geography and Natural resources -
(a) Broad physical features o the world, important places, rivese, mountains, continents, oceans.
(b) Natural resources of India, Mines and minerals, Forests, land and water, Wild life and conservation, ecology of India
(c) Physiography, Climate, Vegetation and soil regions, Broad Physical divisions of India, human resources, problems of population, unemployment, poverty, drought famines and desertification in India.
(d)Energy problems and conventional and non-conventional sources of energy.
4. Agriculture and Economic Development of India – Food and Commercial crops, agriculture base industries, Major irrigation and rivers valley projects, Growth and location of industries. Industrial raw materials, Mineral based Industries, Small Scale & Cottage Industries, Export items, various economic plans, programmes and institutions for development. Cooperative movement, small enterprises and financial institutions.
5. History and Culture – Main currents in World History, Art and Culture, Landmarks in the political and cultural history of India, Major monuments, and Literary works. Renaissance, struggle ofr freedom & national integration.
PAPER II. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF RAJASTHAN, RAJASTHANI SOCIETY, ART & CULTURE
1. Geography and Natural Resources -
(a) Broad Physical Features : Topography, Climate, Vegetation and Soil Regions, Rivers, Mountains, Lakes, Natural divisions, Geographical regions.

(c) Livestock and Fisheries, Breed, Population, Regional Distribution, Cattle Fairs.
(d)Human Resources, Population problem, Unemployment, Poverty, Drought and Famines.
